Have I mentioned recently how much I adore international love stories and photographing destination weddings in Barcelona? 🙂 Aafke and Jody, my beautiful Dutch bride and her Scottish now husband(!) met in a language course in Barcelona…  fast forward a few years, when they returned to the beautiful Emporda region south of Girona to celebrate their wedding so close to the city where they fell in love. This was my first wedding in the Castell d’Emporda, a beautiful 14th century castle set halfway between Barcelona and the French border and I couldnt have fallen more in love with this gem of a venue, set between olive groves, on top of a hill, overlooking this magnificent region. Aafke planned everything perfectly and with such amazing taste! Her Claire Pettibone gown was one of my favourites this year, hear beautiful lavender flowers were spectacular, the location perfect…. there was just one thing that she couldn’t have planned or expected… mother nature! I’ll never forget what she said when torrential rain started washing away their outside ceremony…. she said she was glad, because she could hardly believe that everything was so perfect, that this much happiness is too much… one of the most romantic and heart warming testimonials to their relationship you could hear on a rainy wedding day! Rain or shine their wedding was romantic, beautiful and one that I will never forget, so thank you Aafke and Jody for letting me capture your story through my lens! xx
