We photographers like to hide behind our cameras and can easily fall into the mistake of photographing beautiful memories for everyone but ourselves. I have recently made a conscious effort to start documenting not only other people’s lives but my own as well and have revamped my instagram account to be not only the reflection of my business but a little visual diary of my life as well.
As a wedding photographer I am fortunate to have amazing photographer friends and Ana Lui has been one of my oldest friends in the industry. We met almost four years ago and have worked together, explored Ibiza and even held a workshop together. Her work is totally fabulous and I couldn’t be more proud to call her a friend, so when we decided with my boyfriend to get dolled up (well the dolled up bit was just me :)) and jump in front of the camera I knew I wanted it to be her on the other side of the lens.
Photographer friends, if you haven’t had a shoot with your love recently, I cannot recommend it enough. It’s such an inspiring experience to be on the other side and it gave me such a deeper understanding of my clients. While photo shoots are always fun, the preparation can be overwhelming, where, when and don’t even get me started on the what to wear! (a topic I am planning a blog post for you soon!)
Our third anniversary with my boyfriend was the perfect occasion to organise this shoot in Ibiza, where the light is always magical, the beaches are empty in the winter and where we spend quite a lot of time with my man every year (major plus that Ana lives here too :)).
I literally started crying when I received these images… they turned out even better than I have imagined and it reinforced that beautiful feeling in me that is the core of my job… being able to provide the same kind of joy and long lasting memories for my clients. Thank you Ana for these amazing photographs and thank you Diva Borrelli for beautifying me for this session, but most of all, thank you Alex for doing this for me… I know you’re not a natural poser like me, but I know that together we’ll treasure these photos together. I love you.
