Link Love

The internet and specifically the blogosphere has been one of my biggest source of inspiration and my wisest teacher since I started my journey in photography. From time to time I’d love to share with you some interesting articles, videos and photoshoots, that inspire me or just simply make me laugh. Grab a cup of something tasty and drool into some of my favorites from this week.

I´m head over heels for this retro inspired beach bridal shower. I´d love to photograph a bachelorette party just like that! ;) Any takers?

I adored this interview on Framed with wedding/fashion photographer Tanja Lippert. Not only is her work remarkable but she is real funny too. She makes me wanna experiment with film photography.

While I’m doing some research for my upcoming promo video, I stumbled upon Matt and Katie’s video which paints a really funny and sarcastic picture of the current photography industry. (I guess it’s only funny for photographers though)

I adore these pretty ballons, I’m planning to use these for an upcoming portrait shoot.

Jasmine Star has been a gigantic source of inspiration and a well of useful advice on how to set up a successful photography business. 3 years after she has picked up a camera, she’s been voted as one of the world’s top 10 wedding photographers by American Photo Magazine. She has held her first European workshop in London last week and Kat’s review made me feel like I was part of it too.

Happy Weekend everyone and thanks for the terrific response to this blog so far! You make my heart swell! :)

Urban Lifestyle Session | Zeynep

I was 15 when I met Zeynep in an English language camp in Malta. We were roomies and spent 2 unforgettable weeks living the teenage dream, sightseeing, tanning, partying (good old times :) ). Fast forward more than a decade (oh god!) when by a twist of faith both the girl from Istanbul and the girl from Hungary ended up in Germany. We picked up where we left off and have become great friends again. It always makes me smile when I think about how many friends I have all over the world. We may not be talking very often, there may be decades years of gaps in our communication, but it’s comforting to know that whenever we meet again, it will feel like we have just met the day before. Gotta love Eurolife! ;)

For Zeynep’s session we chose the famous Mauerpark as our location. We wanted to have a urban feel, so the long stairs and glass walls of the nearby stadium in addition to the graffiti walls of the park seemed to be an ideal choice. You should have seen the happiness on Zeynep’s face when I showed her the final pictures! That moment, that joyful expression makes me keep going and makes me all teary eyed with happiness that I can be a photographer.

Summer Lifestyle Session in Berlin | Agi

You’ve seen the sneak peek and now it’s time to share the rest of my favorites’ from Agi’s summery lifestyle session. Agi was my very first friend when I moved to Berlin in 2006. We’ve met…. wait for it… through the internet! but as luck would have it, we soon discovered that she was a trainer in my local gym! She has been a reason to work out through all these years (I mean who doesn’t like a little company) and this gorgeous momma has been a shoulder to rely on in good times and bad times too. I was definitely excited to shoot her and you just wait until I show you her unbelievably cute and gorgeous daughter who has inherited her mommy’s curly hair and bright blue eyes, but got her light cappuccino skin color from her Peruvian daddy.

We have been planning to do a shoot ever since I started to obsess over photography, but we didn’t find the time to do her session until very recently. It was one of those early July days when it actually looked like summer in Berlin. (we don’t have many of those) A nearby lake provided the perfect backdrop and Agi has been a great sport jumping in the water, climbing on trees and getting lost among fields of flowers. Oh what we wouldn’t do for a good picture, right? ;)

Engagement Session in Budapest | Kati + Herwig

Kati and I used to work together in a karaoke bar in Budapest ages and ages ago. We both moved on with our lives, got serious jobs and found the man of our dreams. Kati’s Herwig is from Austria and they fit like peas in a pod. She is one of the most joyful, happy person I know (with enviable hair :) ) and I’m so happy I got to capture their love just weeks before their wedding day. They wanted to have a simple shoot at home, in their own environment and I was more than happy to oblige. We goofed around in their garden, I photographed Kati beating Herwig in backgammon and we even had time to take a few beauty shots of her. Success! ;)

Engagement shots are highly popular in the US, Asia and Australia, but the whole concept is just beginning to spread its wings in Europe. I personally love them! It’s not only a great opportunity to get to know your photographer before the big day, but it is a great chance to be creative and capture some beautiful shots without the stress and business of the wedding day. Thaoski, renowned engagement photography art director says: “Unlike wedding photos, which are designed to capture a special set of rituals and vows, engagement photography has no boundaries. The possibilities are endless. This is your time. And your unique and irresistible love story” and I couldn’t agree with her more. I highly recommend Thaoski’s downloadable, free “The 7 Biggest Mistakes Couples Make With Their Engagement Photography” booklet for anyone considering to invest in engagement shots. She has some great insight and tips for couples on how to get the concept and ideas implemented in a shoot and if you’re on the edge about it, I’m sure she’ll convince you to just go for it. ;)

Fashion Lifestyle Session | Cinta

I’ve met Cinta through one of my interview series for BangBangBerlin (an online lifestyle magazine for whom I regularly shoot streetstyle pictures and reportages). She is an art history student/ fashion blogger – originally from Spain – with a great sense of style and unearthy, beautiful Bambi eyes! In the interview we talked about life, Berlin, fashion and her future plans. I’ve really enjoyed getting to know her better and plan the different outfits and locations for this shoot together  (we had loads of girly fun ;) ). Her closet is highly covetable overflowing with Acne, Isabel Marant and COS pieces and getting lost in her jewelry box was almost like having breakfast at Tiffany’s, just cooler. After taking some pictures in her Charlottenburg apartment, we have ventured out to her favorite local spots, like a charming bookstore and a cute little cafe. I have to say, I really like how these pictures came out. Cinta is the kind of girl who cannot take a bad picture, she is so breathtakingly gorgeous!
